Flash Forward Festival is making its 3rd annual visit to Boston this week, bringing a feast of photography exhibits that especially highlight emerging talent. “Undergraduate Photography Now (Part 3)”, a cornerstone show of promising new work will be on display through the month of May at 530 Harrison Avenue in the South End gallery district. Curated for the Festival by Boston photographers Greer Muldowney and Lou Jones, it features eighteen Junior or Senior students enrolled in a college photography program at a New England school during the current academic year. All formats and categories are represented in this wonderful cross-section of new talent.
I was privileged to participate in a Portfolio Walk at Gallery Kayafas last weekend which featured a selection of photographers from this exhibit. Since a picture is still worth a thousand words, I’m going to let the work speak for itself. Here, in no particular order, are some photographs from a few of the most exciting portfolios I saw.
